The Ya Hala restaurant offers dine-in and carry-out service. The restaurant has an informal atmosphere suitable for the whole family. The dining tables are covered with checkered green and white tablecloths covered with clear plastic. The large dinner plates have the logo of Green Field Churrascaria, a Brazilian restaurant in Rockville, MD that went out of business some time ago, but the important thing about the Ya Hala Restaurant is that the food is tasty and of excellent quality.

I visited Ya Hala with a Groupon coupon for a three course meal for two people that included one appetizer, two entrées and one dessert. The Hummus Special is a paste of chick peas, tahini, garlic, lemon juice which is topped with ground beef, pine nuts and olive oil.

The main entrées are served with pita bread and a choice of two side dishes such as: Rice, Laban B'khyar, Hummus and Salad. The Laban B'khyar is a salad made from yogurt, cucumbers, garlic and dry mint. The Combo Kabab is a combination of chicken, kefta and a choice of lamb or beef skewers with grilled vegetables. The kefta is a kabab made of ground lamb and beef with parsley and onion, seasoned with aromatic herbs.

There are more than five choices for dessert, including Znoud El-Sit, which is a dough dumpling filled with kashta (a cream filling) deep fried and then topped with syrup and pistachio. Another dessert is the Fried Katayef which can be filled with sweet cheese or kashta, also topped with syrup and crumbled pistachios.

Overall, the service is good and the food is excellent. It is worthwhile going back to try other dishes. Call the Ya Hala restaurant at (703) 255-7070 or (703) 255-7177. Find more information about the restaurant at its web site: yahalaVA.com
