The Mei Wah Restaurant offers Chinese cuisine on the second floor of 4457 Willard Ave., Chevy Chase, MD 20815. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. The location is one block from the Friendship Heights metro station. Parking is available in the back of the restaurant and in a garage under the restaurant.
The interior of the restaurant is well lit. The place settings consist of white ceramic plates, white napkins and stainless steel utensils. Some tables are covered with white tablecloths and others with disposable white paper covers.
The Mei Wah restaurant offers a good variety of Chinese dishes, including many vegetarian entrées.
The deep fried spring rolls are served with a sweet plum sauce and spicy hot mustard.
The shrimp curry and the shrimp chow foon are two excellent choices. The aromatic curry is mildly spicy. The sauce has green peas and slivers of bok choi. The curry is served with a small bowl of rice. The chow foon has well-seasoned chewy noodles and bean sprouts with a choice of pork, chicken beef, vegetable or shrimp.
The pepper steak with onion has a combination of stir-fried red/green peppers and onions. The vegetables are crispy, but the dish has a mild flavor that could benefit from extra seasoning. This dish is served with a small bowl of white rice.
