The Hot Spot Restaurant offers a Korean version of Chinese hot pot and Japanese Shabu-Shabu at 3232 Old Pickett Road, Fairfax, VA 22031. The restaurant is open for supper Monday through Friday and for lunch and supper on Saturday and Sunday.
The Hot Spot restaurant provides a cook-your-own-soup experience. You select one of five types of broths, and then choose ingredients from a list of meats, seafood, dumplings and vegetables which you add to your soup.
The dining room has a simple modern look and piano music plays in the background.
A pot is placed on a hot-plate on the table, and the ingredients are brought to you. The picture shows an herbal broth on the left and a kimchi broth on the right. You make a trip to a sauce bar to get a variety of condiments (green onion, garlic, soy sauce, etc.) to flavor the soup.
The ingredients shown here include ribeye beef, fish balls, tofu, shrimp, mussels, clams, salmon and octopus. The vegetables are enoki mushrooms, king oyster mushrooms, bean sprouts, watercress and spinach.
