The Café Mozart offers traditional German cuisine at 1331 H Street NW, Washington D.C. 20005. The restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It closes at 10pm.
Café Mozart is a cozy bar, restaurant and deli in downtown Washington D.C. that is open 7 days a week. It is located in a busy part of the city two blocks from the White House, so it is difficult to find parking.
The space of Café Mozart is divided into three areas: the bakery and delicatessen in the front, the bar in the center, and the restaurant in the back.
The bar area has stools at the bar, and it also has tables. The bar seems to be popular with young Washingtonians some of whom consume a "boot" of beer.
The mixed sausage platter is served with saurkraut. A side order of potato pancakes comes with apple sauce and sour cream.
The trout is served with two side dishes, such as red cabbage and German potato salad.
The delicatessen area has shelves featuring German packaged products, condiments and various forms of marzipan.
Café Mozart offers a wide variety of sausages, meats and cheeses.
The bakery in Café Mozart has many kinds of tarts, pastries and cakes. The German chocolate cup cake had a fudgy chocolate center that was absolutely delicious.
I visited Café Mozart on a busy Friday evening and took advantage of the Happy Hour by sitting at the bar. The sausage platter was delicious! The German potato salad was as good as any that I had in Germany, and the black beer that I drank was imported from Germany.
