The Abyssinia Restaurant offers Ethiopian cuisine at 8221 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and it closes late on the weekends. There is a public parking lot one block east of the restaurant.
The atmosphere of the Abyssinia Restaurant is quite authentic. Upon entering one can perceive the faint aroma of incense that is traditionally burned for Ethiopian coffee ceremonies while rhythmic Ethiopian music plays in the background.
The chairs are fitted with comfortable cushions and the walls are decorated with paintings with Ethiopian motifs and crafts.
The staff is attentive and prompt.
The well-seasoned entrées are served on injera bread with portions of spicy lentils, cabbage, collard greens, carrots and potatoes. Additional injera bread is provided in a side platter to be used as an eating utensil. You can taste the berbere in the food, but in general the dishes are not as spicy as in other Ethiopian restaurants.
