Click the START button to play. Press P to pause or re-start the game. Use the arrow keys to move the pieces. The up-arrow or Z rotates the piece. The left and right arrows move the piece to the left or right, respectively. The down arrow moves the piece down faster, and X moves the piece all the way down immediately. Horizontal lines that are filled completely are removed from the stack, and the score is incremented.
Tetris is a dynamic computer puzzle with pieces consisting of four adjacent squares. The pieces must be rotated and shifted as they fall so that they fill the width of the column without gaps. Rows that are completely filled up disappear, thus allowing for the game to continue. The game stops when the pieces are stacked all the way to the top of the column. The blocks can be rotated and moved to the right or to the left using the arrow keys on the keyboard.
Tetris was developed in 1983 by Alexey Pajitnov at Moscow's Soviet Academy of Sciences. The game quickly became a world-wide success when the game was released on the Nintendo Game Boy portable console. The game has been ported to many platforms, including mobile phones.
