Vietnamese Grilled Steak  Vietnamese Steak

One of my most delightful culinary experiences was when my colleague Vo Van Hao invited me for supper. In a few minutes, he prepared a marinade and soon after, the steaks were on the grill. The taste was terrific! This has been one of my favorite recipes for many years.

Marinade Ingredients:
1/4 cup water
2 cloves crushed garlic
1 serrano hot pepper, finely chopped
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons fish sauce (nuoc mam)
a pinch of black pepper

Preparation:
Marinate ribeye or New York strip steaks for 15 minutes. While the steak is marinating, pre-heat the grill, and slice some onions and sautee them in 1 tablespoon of oil. Place the steaks on the hot grill and cook to your taste. Garnish the steak with sauteed onions and a side salad.
